Seeking Projects for Students
Written by Charles Collin
A new school year has begun and students are hard at work. Students enrolled in the Construction Trades program are putting the finishing touches on a 30′ X 36′ garage which they built from the ground up. The students even did the survey work, and helped with the ground work and the pouring of the concrete slab. They are now working on the finish items, having completed the framing, roofing, doors and windows over the past few weeks. Finally, under the direction of a licensed electrician, they will complete the wiring for the structure.
Projects like the garage greatly enhance our student’s learning. We have been fortunate to have had a good number of similar projects arise over the past few years for our students to work on. Though we are still in mid-fall, next spring will be upon us before we know it. We are already looking for projects for then, as well as next fall. If you live within 5-6 miles of our school, let us know if you have a project you would like our students to build for you. We would love to work with you!
