Health Occ – Skills 2013
March 15,2013 – fourteen of Mrs. Marie May Chasse’s Health Occupations students competed at the 2013 SkillsUSA Maine Skills Championships. All year the students worked on community service projects and several fund raising events to pay for the costs related with this event. Gold medals were won by (MHS seniors) Sierra Burress, Deanne Cote, and Nicole Gendreau who competed in the three-person Health Services Career Pathways team event. The team prepared a tri-fold board display, wrote and created a children’s book and a magazine based on the mental health pathway focusing their researched on Depression. Morgan Dubois (CHS) won a bronze medal in the Basic Healthcare Skills event, Cassidy Ouellette (CHS) won a bronze medal in the Nursing Assisting event, and for the Health Occupation Professional Portfolio competition Casey Tardif (WHS) won a bronze medal and Mariah Corriveau (WHS) came in 5th place. Morgan Dumond (WHS) came in 4th place in the First Aid/CPR event, and the Promotional Bulletin Board team of Emma Brickman (CHS) & Julie Dumond (WHS) came in 4th place. Keianna Sirois (CHS) won the statesman award/pin and competed in the Health Knowledge Bowl team along with Cassidy Chouinard (CHS) and Anik Tabor (CHS) who placed 5th in their event. Brittney Beaulieu (MHS) placed 7th in the Prepared Speech competition. The St. John Valley was well represented by mature and hard working young ladies.
