Advanced Technologies


The Advanced Technologies course is designed to prepare students for a career in Information technology whether as an IT professional, digital artist, robotics specialist, or other IT field. As a result this class is divided into several different tracks for students to follow depending on their interests. Each class is therefore divided into three sections.

  • TestOut Pc Pro – All students will complete the Pc Pro course provided by TestOut.com. This is a self paced training program which covers the knowledge and skill required to be a Pc Technician. A link to the course outline can be found below.
  • Hands on Skills- Knowing how to do something is one thing; actually being able to do it is another. Students will be given hands on experience by the instructor with the various topics in the PcPro course.
  • Individual Exploration Project- Individual exploration projects allow students to explore areas of personal interest. These projects are self selected and self directed by the student and will require a high level of  discipline and self motivation on the students part. The topic must be approved by the instructor prior to the start of the project. The student must provide the instructor with a brief written explanation of the project and an approximate timeframe. Time frame can vary from a week to an entire quarter trimester depending on the topic.  
    • Computer Technician Prep (students wishing to take their A+ exam will utilize this time to continue their Pc Technician training course)
    • Programming (HTML, Java, Python, C+, Swift, etc)
    • Robotics
    • Computer graphics
    • Video editing
    • Game design
    • Electronics
    • etc,etc,etc,
  • For this program we also have articulation agreements with Central Maine Community College (C.M.C.C.) and Northern Maine Community College (N.M.C.C.)
